Secret Double Klondike: A Comprehensive Guide to the Two-Deck Challenge
Secret Double Klondike is an elevated and more complex version of the traditional Solitaire experience. By incorporating two full decks of cards (totaling 104 cards), this game provides a significantly larger tableau and a more demanding strategic landscape. The "Secret" aspect of the game refers to the hidden, face-down cards within the tableau that must be methodically uncovered to reach the finish line. This game is perfect for players who find standard Klondike too simple and crave a longer, more rewarding session of card sorting and tactical planning.
The Ultimate Objective: The Eight Foundations
The primary goal of Secret Double Klondike is to move all 104 cards into the foundation piles located at the top of the play area. Unlike standard solitaire, which features four foundations, this version requires you to build eight foundations. Each foundation must be built according to these specific criteria:
- Starting with the Ace: Each pile must begin with an Ace of a specific suit.
- Ascending Order: Cards must be placed in exact numerical sequence from Ace to King (Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, and finally King).
- Suit Matching: Foundations are suit-specific. A Heart foundation can only accept Heart cards, a Spade foundation only Spades, and so on.
Navigating the Tableau and Building Sequences
The Tableau is the main arena where you will spend most of your time organizing cards. In Secret Double Klondike, the tableau typically consists of nine columns. Mastering the rules of movement is essential for success:
- Descending Numerical Order: On the tableau, cards must be placed in a descending sequence. For example, a 9 can only be placed on a 10, and a 4 can only be placed on a 5.
- Alternating Colors: You must maintain an alternating color pattern. A black card (Clubs or Spades) must be placed on a red card (Hearts or Diamonds), and a red card must be placed on a black one.
- Moving Groups of Cards: You can move entire sequences of face-up cards as a single unit, provided the top card of the group fits the descending and alternating color rules of the destination column.
- Filling Empty Spaces: If you manage to clear an entire column, only a King (or a sequence starting with a King) can be moved into that empty slot.
The Stock Pile and the "Secret" Hidden Cards
When you have exhausted all available moves on the tableau, you must utilize the Stock pile located on the left side of the screen. Clicking the stock will deal a new open card to the Waste pile. This card can be played directly to the foundations or moved onto the tableau to help bridge gaps in your sequences. The true challenge of the game lies in uncovering the face-down cards in the tableau columns; every time you move a face-up card and expose a hidden one, you can click it to flip it over, potentially revealing the exact card you need to progress.
Secret Double Klondike is won when every card has been successfully transferred from the stock and tableau into the eight foundation piles in the correct order. It is a game of patience that rewards those who plan their moves several steps in advance.
